"Gladiolas" is a full sheet watercolor. I bought the flowers from White's Farm Market in Bloomfield and painted them in my kitchen.
As with all my paintings, this was drawn freehand and then painted.

"Burning off the Fields" I saw this farm field miles below my house burning one day and
ran for my paper and watercolors. (I called the fire department
first just in case it wasn't intentional; but it was.) I never saw them
do this again. The property is no longer a farm.

"Gladiolas and the View from My House" is a full sheet watercolor.

"Textures, Seeds" was inspired by the dried bittersweet in the painting. After deciding to paint the bittersweet, I looked for other things to include. I spent a month or so adding things to the setup in my studio, taking them away, putting them back, and rearranging them before beginning to draw.
I collect pretty leaves, interesting rocks and seed pods, etc., and place them around the house. Many of these things eventually become part of a painting.
As with all my paintings, this was drawn freehand and then painted.
